The Greenery will be selling the Dazzling Gold pear. The Dazzling
Gold is a tasty new pear from The Greenery's range of club-shaped
fruits.
Dazzling Gold is the brand name of
the UTA species of pear. This is a large-fruited pear species. The
droplet-shaped pears are an even golden brown. This pear has a
delightful aromatic taste that fully unfolds a couple of moments
after the first bite, thus surprising the consumer. The name
Dazzling Gold refers to these trump qualities: the breath-taking
taste and the recognisable golden brown colour of the skin.
As well as being easy to recognise
and offering phenomenal taste, this new pear has another
distinctive characteristic, namely long shelf life.
Extensive taste research has been
carried out by Campden Technology Ltd in the UK. The pear achieved
the exceptional score of 9.0. The research focused on the pear's
appearance, taste and texture. The pear was rated particularly
highly for these factors. Its appearance was described as
'appetising and richly coloured'. For its taste, the pear was
categorised as 'perfumed and well-balanced' . And, finally, in
terms of its texture, the pear inspired the response 'a perfect
ripeness combined with a juicy texture'. This is a firm, compact
and juicy eating pear that is equally satisfying in salads and can
be used in cooked dishes.
The Dazzling Gold is a club-shaped
species. A uniform concept will be applied to its global marketing,
for which a logo has been developed that reflects the pear's
qualities. For example, the pear's various taste tones are
expressed in the multiple colours used in the logo.
At present approx. 300 metric tons
are available.
